Organic matters of agricultural origin can guarantee low contents of heavy metals or MTE (Metal Trace Elements). Residual products contain 10 to 50 times as much as the former. The 44-095 sludge compost and 44-051 organic amendment regulations authorize very high MTE ratio limits that may generate risks of polluting effluents for soils and crops. The manufacturing of our organic fertilizers is mostly processed from ovine manures and plant oilcakes.
Groupe Frayssinet's production unit is a plant approved for processing and composting materials by French veterinary services in compliance with the EC N°1774/2002 regulation.
Manures and wool flocks of category 2 are processed by composting. The TAPs for use by Groupe Frayssinet are exclusively of category 3. Infotechnicom TAP

In the light of the experience of the 1990's feed chain crises and scientific knowledge gained in recent years, the regulation aims at ensuring the impossibility of spreading animal diseases communicable through animal by-products. It covers the scope for use of animal by-products in the sectors of fertilization and animal feeding.
The key points of the regulation text.
The key points in the regulation text
Raw matters : the regulation defines 3 categories of animal sub-products :
Category 1: specified risk by-products of animal origin contaminated by transmissible diseases. They shall be directly disposed of as waste by incineration.
Category 2: non-hazardous by-products but without traceability whatsoever. Animal digestive tract contents (manures, liquid manures, droppings) and mixes of animal by-products. Animal digestive tract contents shall be incinerated or processed by composting; animal materials shall be processed by autoclave (133°C, 20mn, 3 bars) before being used as fertilizers.
Category 3: animal by-products from sound animals, slaughtered in slaughterhouses and declared fit for human consumption after ante & post mortem inspection. These materials are not placed on the market of human consumption for business reasons – as surplus, no longer intended for consumption because of feeding customs – and are by definition free from any disease transmissible to humans or animals. These are mainly Transformed Animal Proteins (TAP) processed by autoclave (133°C, 20mn, 3 bars) before being used as fertilizers (i.e. hydrolyzed feather, meat and bone meal).
Fertilizers processing and production plants are subject to the approval of the Ministry of Agriculture. Plants define and implement the methods of hazard analysis and control of critical points (HACCP) in compliance with the regulation. The competent authority – DSV, DGCCRF – inspects approved companies and plants regularly.
