We’ve been working through our professional Unions UNIFA (fertilizers) and UJP (Organic amendments) to develop a national regulation (AFNOR) and a European certification (EC) guaranteeing the transparency and readability of all our product offers to consumers. A lot of standards on fertilizers have been revisited in the last ten years following the dramatic events that had stricken the world of agriculture (nitrates in soils, mad cow, bird flu, CO2 emissions…).

Organic amendments
Implementation of NFU 44051 standard

Organic amendements are fertilizing materials mainly made from carbonated combinations of plant origin, or mixed animal and plant origin, used for the maintenance or restoration of soil organic matter and the improvement of its physical and/or chemical and/or biological properties. Organic amendments shall respect a dry matter rate higher than 30% and organic matter rate higher than 20%. Elements N, P2O5 and K2O are exclusively of organic origin with a rate lower than 3% for each of these elements. Organic amendments maust also comply with these ratios : N + P2O5 + K2O < 7%, C/N rate > 8 et N ammoniacal + nitric + ureic < 33% N total.

Organic amendements with fertilizer complementation are organic amendments with fertilizer addition. They must comply with the same requirements as simple organic amendments (except C/N limits and N fraction in mineral form/total N). The N content or P2O5 or K2O must be higher than 1%.

Organic fertilizers N, NP, NK or NPK are composed of animal and/or plant matter. Their major function is to provide the elements useful to plant nutrition. Elements N, P2O5 and K2O are exclusively of organic origin with a >3% rate of at least one in three of these elements. These fertilizers are not supposed to contain organic synthetic nitrogen.

Organo-mineral fertilizers
Implementation of the NFU 42001 standard

Organo-mineral fertilizers NP, NK ou NPK are made from mixes of organic and mineral fertilizers with at least 1% nitrogen rate. Their main function is to provide plants with the needed elements for their nutrition. Elements N, P2O5 and K2O are exclusively of organic and mineral origin with a >3% rate of at least one in three of these elements. These fertilizers are not supposed to contain organic synthetic nitrogen.

AMM N°1030003, Accreditation

The Placing on the Market Authorization ( Autorisation de Mise sur le Marché : AMM) granted by the Ministry of Agriculture certifies the effectiveness, harmlessness, safety and stability of the active matter of natural origin OSYR. The AMM guarantees an OSYR rate of 40% in marketed special products.
The accreditation in section (root growth stimulator) gives precise information on the improvement of root systems (weight,volume, number of roots) of cultivated plants.

Liquid biostimulants
Recorded in AFNOR fertilizer standard list (NFU 42003-1, NFU 42003-2 NFU 42001, NFU 42004, EC fertilizers).

Liquid biostimulants are products of organic origin and/or mineral origin developed to provide nutritional complementation and ensure crop restart.They act at different levels of plant physiology to fight nutrient deficiency, strengthen resistance to stress and improve crop quality. Biostimulants are part of a family of products placed on the market in compliance with the fertilizing materials and crop enhancers standard with regard to the AFNOR NFU standard or according to the allegations claimed through the accreditation procedure with N° of Placing on the Market Authorization (AMM). According to their origin and their manufacturing processes, biostimulants may be labelled « Approved for use in organic agriculture» and in that case they can be identified by their technical documentation, labelling and invoicing thanks to the distinction « Approved for use in organic agriculture in compliance with the regulation EC N° 834/2007».
